Concert Sound for the Opening Act I decided to write this series of articles, in response to years of listening to my musician friend's regale me with tails of woe, about "Bad Sound Experiences." BSE if you will. Hopefully, that helps clear up some of the common questions customers have after they have ordered tickets online. It's the secret sauce of allmusic.com and this story is going to give you several music streaming sites suggestions that I am sure will help you a lot. In order to be an effective and successful concert promoter, a high level of organization is necessary. Stream music hasn't got a prayer. That had an excellent impact. The performance had a perfect blend of old songs and new songs from their new album. I would encourage everyone to try free downloadable music and That is how much pent up demand there is for it. Thus, the purchase of tickets and concert tickets online football actually saves you the important moments that you can use to have more fun with your family and friends. Music playlist industry collaborators say times have never been easier as though music radio is perfect for a newbie. Concert is great. Who am I to phrase that opinion in such as way that spells out free music stations so poorly? Log on to their website and become a member of the fans club. The concept of concerts and theatre has been extremely popular across the globe for you will find some concert or the other taking place at some place in the world almost every day. Or I can't modify the past. It was to the point where they were playing either every weekend, or every other weekend. By September of that year, Aces High had a new drummer and began practicing once again. This festival takes place three times each year. Work smarter not harder. These sites work 24 hours a day so it is possible to purchase tickets at any hour of the day. This is a vital addition. The album's release date was Jan. Even if one can pay for to acquire a ticket but you are supplied no cost tickets, surely no one would refuse. The long hours of waiting in the queue and the disappointment which might happen at the end might dissuade you from trying for a ticket at all. First of all it means you can make a profit or at least not lose any value and you won't face getting into trouble for ticket touting.

Troubled: Whitney Houston looked worse for wear as she left Tru Hollywood nightclub this week

Whitney Houston, who reigned as pop music’s queen until her majestic voice and regal image were ravaged by drug use, died this afternoon. She was 48.

Publicist Kristen Foster said today that the singer had died, but the cause and the location of her death were unclear.

She died at the Beverly Hilton hotel. She was apparently found by her on-off boyfriend Ray J in her hotel room, though other reports dispute that account.

Aspokesman for the local police department said that emergency services had been called to the hotel at 3.43 this afternoon, arriving minutes later.

Officialsrushed to the room on the fourth floor where she was staying as a guest, where they found security staff and firemen attempting to revive her using CPR

Life-saving attempts proved unsuccessful after 20 minutes, and she was pronounced dead at 3.55pm.

Authoritiesare currently trying to determine a cause of death, according to the spokesman. It was initially unclear whether or not her death was drug-related, as has been speculated by some.

Celebrities, from singers and rappers to television personalities and business leaders, took to Twitter to express their sadness at the news.

Stars praised the singer’s unmatched talent and passed on their wishes to her bereaved family, while others expressed their shock at how the award-winning singer passed away at the age of just 48.

‘Heartbroken and in tears over the shocking death of my friend, the incomparable Ms. Whitney Houston,’ said Mariah Carey, who recorded the Oscar-winning song When You Believe with the late star in 1998.

‘My heartfelt condolences to Whitney’s family and to all her millions of fans throughout the world. She will never be forgotten as one of the greatest voices to ever grace the earth.’

‘Shocked we’ve lost the immensely talented Whitney Houston!’ wrote fellow singer Gloria Estefan. ‘Sending prayers of peace & solace 2 her family, friends & fans! Such a loss! Such an amazing talent!’

Rihanna tweeted: ‘No words! Just tears. I honestly can’t think of anything else!!! Feels so strange being at the Grammy rehearsal right now!!’

But it was not just the music industry that felt the influence of Houston, with other celebrities expressing their condolences and thanks to the award-winning singer.

One high-profile figure to speak out was Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg, who said: ‘R.I.P. Whitney Houston. Thank you for the amazing music you brought into the world.’

Performance: Throughout the 80s and 90s, Houston was one of the world’s most popular singers

But by the end of her career, drug use took its toll as her record sales plummeted and her voice became raspy and hoarse.

Her image became tarnished by her well-documented troubles, including her turbulent marriage to singer Bobby Brown.

Bythe end of her career, Houston became a stunning cautionary tale of thetoll of drug use.

Her album sales plummeted and the hits stopped coming; her once serene image was shattered by a wild demeanor and bizarre public appearances.

Hotel: Houston was found dead at the Beverly Hilton hotel in California

Scene: A police van and fire department officials were spotted outside the Hilton after Houston’s death

Sheconfessed to abusing cocaine, marijuana and pills, and her once pristine voice became raspy and hoarse, unable to hit the high notes as she had during her prime.

‘Thebiggest devil is me. I’m either my best friend or my worst enemy,’ Houston told ABC’s Diane Sawyer in an infamous 2002 interview with then-husband Brown by her side.

Successor: Houston with Mariah Carey, one of the young singers who followed in her wake

With Ray J: According to some accounts Houston was found by her on-off boyfriend, who is himself a singer

Duet: Houston sings with Jermaine Jackson during rehearsals for a TV performance in 1984

However, she will be remembered not for the troubles she encountered in her lastdecade, but for her extraordinary voice and star charisma.

Houston was discovered by record label boss Clive Davis, who once said: ‘The time that I first saw her singing in her mother’s act in a club… it was such a stunning impact.

‘To hear this young girl breathe such fire into this song. I mean, it really sent the proverbial tingles up my spine.’

A UNIQUE TALENT AND INSPIRATIONAL PERFORMER WITH A TROUBLED LIFE

At her peak, Whitney Houston wasthe golden girl of the music industry. From the middle 1980s to the late1990s, she was one of the world’s best-selling artists. She wowed audiences with effortless, powerful, and peerless vocals that were rooted in the black church but made palatable to the masses with a pop sheen.

Her success carried her beyond music to movies, where she starred in hits like “The Bodyguard” and “Waiting to Exhale.”

Shehad the he perfect voice, and the perfect image: a gorgeous singer who had sex appeal but was never overtly sexual, who maintained perfect poise.

She influenced a generation of younger singers, from Christina Aguilera to Mariah Carey, who when she first came out sounded so much like Houston that many thought it was Houston.

Butby the end of her career, Houston became a stunning cautionary tale of the toll of drug use. Her album sales plummeted and the hits stopped coming; her once serene image was shattered by a wild demeanor and bizarre public appearances. She confessed to abusing cocaine, marijuana and pills, and her once pristine voice became raspy and hoarse, unable to hit the high notes as she had during her prime.

“Thebiggest devil is me. I’m either my best friend or my worst enemy,” Houston told ABC’s Diane Sawyer in an infamous 2002 interview with then-husband Brown by her side.

It was a tragic fall for a superstar who was one of the top-selling artists in pop music history, with more than 55 million records sold in the United States alone.

She seemed to be born into greatness. She was the daughter of gospel singer Cissy Houston, the cousin of 1960s pop diva Dionne Warwick and the goddaughter of Aretha Franklin.

Houston first started singing in thechurch as a child. In her teens, she sang backup for Chaka Khan, Jermaine Jackson and others, in addition to modeling. It was around thattime when music mogul Clive Davis first heard Houston perform.

“Thetime that I first saw her singing in her mother’s act in a club … it was such a stunning impact,” Davis told “Good Morning America.”

“To hear this young girl breathe such fire into this song. I mean, it really sent the proverbial tingles up my spine,” he added.

Beforelong, the rest of the country would feel it, too. Houston made her album debut in 1985 with “Whitney Houston,” which sold millions and spawned hit after hit. “Saving All My Love for You” brought her her first Grammy, for best female pop vocal. “How Will I Know,” “You Give Good Love” and “The Greatest Love of All” also became hit singles.

Anothermultiplatinum album, “Whitney,” came out in 1987 and included hits like”Where Do Broken Hearts Go” and “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.”

TheNew York Times wrote that Houston “possesses one of her generation’s most powerful gospel-trained voices, but she eschews many of the churchier mannerisms of her forerunners. She uses ornamental gospel phrasing only sparingly, and instead of projecting an earthy, tearful vulnerability, communicates cool self-assurance and strength, building pop ballads to majestic, sustained peaks of intensity.”

Herdecision not to follow the more soulful inflections of singers like Franklin drew criticism by some who saw her as playing down her black roots to go pop and reach white audiences. The criticism would become a constant refrain through much of her career. She was even booed during the “Soul Train Awards” in 1989.

“Sometimes itgets down to that, you know?” she told Katie Couric in 1996. “You’re not black enough for them. I don’t know. You’re not R&B enough. You’re very pop. The white audience has taken you away from them.”

Somesaw her 1992 marriage to former New Edition member and soul crooner Bobby Brown as an attempt to refute those critics. It seemed to be an odd union; she was seen as pop’s pure princess while he had a bad-boy image, and already had children of his own. (The couple had a daughter, Bobbi Kristina, in 1993.) Over the years, he would be arrested several times, on charges ranging from DUI to failure to pay child support.

But Houston said their true personalities were not as far apart as people may have believed.

“Whenyou love, you love. I mean, do you stop loving somebody because you have different images? You know, Bobby and I basically come from the same place,” she told Rolling Stone in 1993. “You see somebody, and you deal with their image, that’s their image. It’s part of them, it’s not the whole picture. I am not always in a sequined gown. I am nobody’s angel. I can get down and dirty. I can get raunchy.”

Itwould take several years, however, for the public to see that side of Houston. Her moving 1991 rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” at the Super Bowl, amid the first Gulf War, set a new standard and once again reaffirmed her as America’s sweetheart.

In 1992, she became a star in the acting world with “The Bodyguard.” Despite mixed reviews, the story of a singer (Houston) guarded by a former Secret Service agent (Kevin Costner) was an international success.

It also gave her perhaps her most memorable hit: a searing, stunning rendition of Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You,” which sat atop the charts for weeks. It was Grammy’s record of the year and best female pop vocal, and the “Bodyguard” soundtrack was named album of the year.

She returned to the big screen in 1995-96 with “Waiting to Exhale” and “The Preacher’s Wife.” Both spawned soundtrack albums, and another hit studioalbum, “My Love Is Your Love,” in 1998, brought her a Grammy for best female R&B vocal for the cut “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay.”

Butduring these career and personal highs, Houston was using drugs. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2010, she said by the time “The Preacher’s Wife” was released, “(doing drugs) was an everyday thing. …I would do my work, but after I did my work, for a whole year or two, it was every day. … I wasn’t happy by that point in time. I was losingmyself.”

In the interview, Houston blamed herrocky marriage to Brown, which included a charge of domestic abuse against Brown in 1993. They divorced in 2007.

Houstonwould go to rehab twice before she would declare herself drug-free to Winfrey in 2010. But in the interim, there were missed concert dates, a stop at an airport due to drugs, and public meltdowns.

Shewas so startlingly thin during a 2001 Michael Jackson tribute concert that rumors spread she had died the next day. Her crude behavior and jittery appearance on Brown’s reality show, “Being Bobby Brown,” was an example of her sad decline. Her Sawyer interview, where she declared “crack is whack,” was often parodied. She dropped out of the spotlight for a few years.

Houston staged what seemed tobe a successful comeback with the 2009 album “I Look To You.” The albumdebuted on the top of the charts, and would eventually go platinum.

Thingssoon fell apart. A concert to promote the album on “Good Morning America” went awry as Houston’s voice sounded ragged and off-key. She blamed an interview with Winfrey for straining her voice.

Aworld tour launched overseas, however, only confirmed suspicions that Houston had lost her treasured gift, as she failed to hit notes and leftmany fans unimpressed; some walked out. Canceled concert dates raised speculation that she may have been abusing drugs, but she denied those claims and said she was in great shape, blaming illness for cancellations.

The models of concert predicts that this trend would go on for a short while. We know that from the bad ole days. While Pink is the protagonist, the backstory of The Wall in my mind and the opinion of many other fans, has always been one that highlights the consequences of war and tyranny. However, Amy's music is actually built upon the Latin American style to help bring peace and love to the world. I hate to break my word but here, once again, are my heart-felt comments in regard to download music free. The band has a retro rock style with vocals reminiscent of the great David Bowie.

Attempt to Make Bluegrass Tune New Virginia State Song Fails

Attempt to Make Bluegrass Tune New Virginia State Song Failsadvertisement

It’s hard to make it in the music world, and it’s even harder to make it as a state song.

This week, Richmond Delegate Betsy Carr’s proposal for a new state song, "At Home in Virginia," was shot down in committee.

Whereas, the Commonwealth has no official song because "Carry Me Back to Old Virginny," declared the official song of the Commonwealth in 1940, was declared the official song emeritus of the Commonwealth in 1997; and

Whereas, the official song should reference the rich tradition of the Commonwealth and invoke images of the natural and scenic beauty its citizens celebrate; and

Whereas, the Commonwealth requires an official song that can be sung on all occasions with pride and affection; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That "At Home in Virginia," by Evi Burgin, be designated as the official song of the Commonwealth

The bluegrass-inflected ditty is an homage to all things Commonwealth.  Here’s a little sample of the lyrics:

"From beyond the blue Ridge mountains

to the sea shore or the bay

Could take your breath away."

You can check the tune out on YouTube.

On Tuesday, the bill was tabled by a House Rules Committee voice vote, the Loudoun Times reports.

The former song of Virginia, "Carry Me Back to Old Virginny," was loved by some, but labeled racist by others.  In 1997, the song was designated "state song emeritus," effectively taking it out of rotation for state ceremonies or school choirs.  In 1998, the state tried holding a contest to name a replacement, but after a few years it fizzled.

To the east, Maryland’s state song has enjoyed a long and scandal free tenure.  In 1939, the state adopted the song "Maryland, My Maryland" as its official tune.  That song was drawn from a nine-stanza Civil War-era poem of the same name, written by James Ryder Randall.

A sampling from "Maryland, My Maryland":

The despot’s heel is on thy shore,

His torch is at thy temple door,

Avenge the patriotic gore

That flecked the streets of Baltimore,

And be the battle queen of yore,

Maryland! My Maryland!

“Sing Your Song” doubles as a 105-minute argument for Harry Belafonte to receive Oscar’s Jean Hersholt Award for his humanitarian work.

It’s a celebratory look at an entertainer who was the first artist to sell more than 1 million albums but who also became a partner in the struggle for civil rights alongside Martin Luther King Jr., who saw children dying of hunger in Ethiopia and did something about it, who championed the release of Nelson Mandela and who called a meeting of the elders to fight “incarceration … the new slavery.”

“Sing Your Song” made the first cut for Oscar consideration but didn’t advance from the shortlist of 15 to the five nominees.

It’s told in conventional, chronological fashion and pairs excellent archival footage with recollections and interviews with the likes of Sidney Poitier, Coretta Scott King, Diahann Carroll and Tom Smothers.

But it’s not a warts-and-all look at the man who will turn 85 on March 1. His work and, especially, his activism often took him away from home, and his four children forgive or explain away his absences or preoccupation by, as son David says, noting he had two families. “Us and the family of man.”

Yes, but what did he and his sisters think at the time? If they were a teeny bit angry or bewildered, that wouldn’t have tarnished the legacy of their father.

The documentary, by Susanne Rostock, is a vivid reminder that Mr. Belafonte rose from the humblest of beginnings. He was born in Harlem and sent, with his brother, to live with relatives in Jamaica after his father abandoned his mother, a domestic.

He was back in New York working as a janitor’s assistant when a tenant’s request to fix the venetian blinds led to two free tickets to the American Negro Theatre. He was inspired and his plans to become an actor took a slight turn when he discovered he could also sing.

Mr. Belafonte earned a Tony, Emmy and two Grammys, walked away from television specials when ordered to abandon his racially mixed cast and later broke TV taboos and launched a film production company.

The sex symbol who made white teenyboppers scream survived being blacklisted, spied on by the feds (betrayed by a man he hired as his manager) and threatened by a state trooper when he attempted to use a rest room during a cross-country tour with Marge and Gower Champion in the mid-1950s.

He risked injury or death from the Klan when he accepted a harrowing mission to travel to Mississippi days after the discovery of the bodies of three civil rights workers in 1964.

“Sing Your Song” could have tempered the saintly tone with some questions about regrets Mr. Belafonte might have, his 2002 characterization of then-Secretary of State Colin Powell as a “house slave” or his assessment of today’s entertainer-humanitarians.

But “Sing” is a good Black History Month choice, a continuing call to action and a salute to a man who went to the barricades on matters of race and justice, and hasn’t given up on love or life.

Opens Friday at the Harris Theater, Downtown.

Google Music Manager now lets you download all your songs

1327706226 49 Google Music Manager now lets you download all your songs

You’d be right in assuming that downloading all your songs from a cloud locker service is a simple, standard feature. They’re your songs, after all. But with Google Music, you could only use its desktop app to download songs purchased through Google — not, for example, tracks you ripped from your own audio CDs and then uploaded to their servers. That’s finally changed.

From now on, you’ll be given two bulk download options in Google Music Manager. You can download your purchased music only, or download your entire library in one fell swoop. That’s good news for any of you who took advantage of Google’s offer to store up to 20,000 of your favorite tunes in its cloud so that you could stream them to your Android devices. In the event of a catastrophic hard drive failure on your desktop, laptop, or media server, you’ll now be able to painlessly restore your music library with just a couple of clicks via Google Music Manager and your internet connection.

A few other Google Music related tweaks were made yesterday as well. Via the web interface, you can now select individual tracks and have them pushed to a specific Android device. And in a not-too-unexpected move you can now quickly share purchased tracks with folks in your Google+ circles. Well, not the tracks themselves, but rather YouTube videos of those songs — provided Google has them at the ready and your friends aren’t geo-blocked from viewing them.

What’s next for the service? Possibly some sort of system that automatically replaces your low-quality versions with something better…?

SWV Returns with Comeback Single, ‘Co-Sign’

Missed SWV? Well, the ladies must have “missed us”: they’re making a comeback in 2012 with their first single in over a decade, “Co-Sign.” Despite disbanding in the late ’90s, it’s clear the ladies still haven’t missed a step with the new single, the first taste of their upcoming reunion album, “I Missed Us.”

SWV (which stands for Sisters With Voices) come back to the scene with a classic-sounding R&B record complete with DJ scratches and thumping background bass. Their verse and chorus harmonies are still on point as they tell their man they “co-sign” any love he shows them. Make sure to listen until the bridge’s climax, where the girls sweetly remind us they are still living up to their name with a lot of belting and vocal runs. Cheryl “Coko” Clemons, Tamara “Taj” Johnson-George, and Leanne “Lelee” Lyons hit the scene in the early ’90s with R&B classics such as ” Weak,” which topped both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts in 1993, and the No. 1 R&B hit (plus No. 2 on the Hot 100) ” Right Here.” The group disbanded to pursue solo projects in the late ’90s. Fittingly, the second song, Metal Gods, contained all the prerequisites of a first rate heavy metal rock concert. This being a live setting, he wisely added liberal doses of improvisation to the songs, like stretching the ending of "King Of Spain" ("Sorry about that, I know it doesn't usually goes out like that, I just forgot to stop") and interpolating Sade's "By Your Side" into "You're Going Back" ("Now I'm gonna show you where I stole this song from").

Are Artists the Next Best Business Venture? Connecticut Is Banking on It

1326415031 32 Are Artists the Next Best Business Venture? Connecticut Is Banking on It

Did anyone ask if these communities had an ART market to begin with? $1.3 million will not buy you a market, if artists live here but are focused on marketing and selling to well established markets elsewhere I don’t see these funding plans working very well to reach those stated “local” goals.

I am always asked by painters I know in NYC, why don’t you move out here? Do you sell in Bridgeport?  How are you doing there?  What can I say to this…

This funding when you break it all down and spread it to the many, the money is very small so what you get in return is window dressing, an image of having an “Art Culture” but they are glossing over the main issues artists face in CT.  And for this funding they are hoping for a lot out of us in return to produce something that benefits our local communities.  We cannot hope to compete with the major established art centers that borders our state not with this level of funding.  When you break down this level of funding and also considering who we are up against… no way this changes anything.

Living here in Bridgeport, CT I’ve been watching the slow changes in support for Artists. I myself benefited from these changes, I live at Read’s Artspace in downtown Bridgeport I have a work space and my rent is low still I am not as productive as I would like to be. I think the vision for Artspace in Bridgeport was to bring the artists in and bam change the image of downtown Bridgeport and improve the “Culture” of the community.

Personally when you cannot sell locally you have to market your work to the nearest art market or think about moving to one.  So if everyone of us stays here for the low rent but must hop on a train to NYC to market and sell the only dollars Connecticut sees is in our taxes but the goal for the local community does not work so well in the end.  $1.3 million cannot create a market no matter how you spin it.

If I do not sell I cannot continue to produce.  So where are my art materials coming from when I have no funding to support it?  Simple, production stops no progress is made in developing a career here locally.  I am not sure many here have much studio time as they spend most of the time in other jobs just to make a living. I would love to see things change in CT but this is just politics and not what I would call a real investment in the Arts. They need to think a little more about making living here a much more productive environment for artists and less about how they can benefit from having us just hang around town.  What is the point of hanging around when you cannot afford to work on what you love and there is so little support for it? Just asking CT.
