Dimensions Festival in Croatia has expanded its line up with Kode9, Floating Points and more set to appear.

Set to be held in Fort Punta Christo, Croatian dance festival Dimensions is a brand new event on the electronic music calendar. Returning for a fresh instalment this summer, organisers have just unveiled a host of new additions.

Hyperdub boss Kode9 carries a certain cache that extends beyond bass music. Leading one of the most vital, varied imprints in the electronic field, the producer is set to drop by Dimensions for a DJ set.

Elsewhere, Floating Points and Joy Orbison will have been booked to appear while Pearson Sound will also travel out to Croatia.

The line up is heavy on adventures in British bass, with Shackleton, Ben UFO, Blawan, Kassem Mosse, Space Dimension Controller, 2562, Pinch and many more set to perform at this year’s festival.

On a more eclectic tip, Motor City Drum Ensemble will take part while Glasgow dub bandits Mungo’s Hi-Fi are planning to take their epic rig out to Croatia. Jimmy Edgar has also been booked, while Nathan Fake will no doubt play a typically forward thinking set.

A number of labels have confirmed their involvement, with the likes of R&S, Exit Records, Hessel Audio and Swamp 81 also travelling out to Croatia.

Check out this taster below.

Dimensions Festival runs between September 6th – 9th.

Marquese Scott: An Overnight Sensation?

1329014227 22 Marquese Scott: An Overnight Sensation?

Marquese Scott has appeared on “America’s Got Talent” and “So You Think You Can Dance,” and yet most people had never heard of him until last September. That’s when this internet sensation combined his dubstep dance talents with a little bit of luck and timing. Scott’s been uploading dance videos to Youtube since he left the military in 2003. But it wasn’t until he danced to the hit song, “Pumped Up Kicks,” that he went viral. He got more than 30 million views on that video. His other videos since, are in the hundreds of thousands, bringing his grand total to more than 45 million views.

I caught up with him at the Summit Series event at Squaw Valley ski resort in Northern California. It’s an exclusive gathering of entrepreneurs and executives from around the world, which focuses on developing relationships, learning new skills and changing the world.  He was there to tell his story, share with others how to create viral videos online and also to give them a few lessons on how to dance to Dubstep, which is a type of electronic dance music, which originated in South London, United Kingdom.

They claim to have concert tickets available. Furthermore, if some problems as to the purchase, they need help, and the grantee, all the tickets that they sell. What's different now? Before the end of 2005 the album had already sold over 8.3 million copies and was the best-selling album worldwide of that year. Great. This makes sure that the computer is properly protected form viruses. At the same time if you are selling tickets you can sometimes risk getting into trouble for ticket touting and it's not something that you are really meant to do. (...from ) The Virtual Concert's Intermissions Since I will have to allow harry Connick to have a few breaks during his show, I choose to have additional musicians to play during the intermission rather than just have dead space. Maruba Resort Jungle Spa Helps Guests ”Get Jungle-ized”

1328632634 25 Maruba Resort Jungle Spa Helps Guests Get Jungle izedBoutique hotel in Belize serves up euphoria with an ethno twist

Maskall Village, Belize (MMD Newswire) February 2, 2012 – The proprietors of Maruba Resort Jungle Spa in Belize are on a mission to help everyone from starry-eyed honeymooners to stressed-out business people “get jungle-ized” – in a good way. Most of us are familiar with the term, “It’s a jungle out there,” with all of its unsettling implications. Now Maruba, a unique spa and boutique hotel nestled in the lush Belize rain forest, has brought a new and totally upbeat meaning to that old saying. This time the “jungle out there” is the world’s first jungle spa: a quirky but luxurious bit of paradise that was recently named Best Boutique Spa (in the “25 Rooms or Fewer” category) in Spa Finder’s Readers’ Choice Awards.

“We like to say that Maruba was inspired by heaven,” says Franziska Nicholson Dir. of resort design events marketing sales and reservations. “We’ve gone out of our way to create an environment where our guests feel as if everyday problems have melted away from the moment they walk onto the grounds. Many describe it as a sense of peace, even euphoria.”

Make that euphoria with an ethno twist. Not a traditional luxury spa, Maruba offers a one-of-a-kind blend of various Mayan, Creole, and African designs to complement the natural jungle setting, which is enhanced by exotic fauna and flora.

Notwithstanding the primordial jungle surroundings, all rooms and suites at Maruba are fully equipped with private baths, air conditioning, CD/DVD players, and other amenities. Each room boasts a unique design congruent with the hotel’s “neo-primitive” jungle theme. On the property are swimming pools and a Japanese mineral bath, as well as a restaurant, bar, meditation room, chess table, exercise room, and full body spa. Says Franziska, “Our Jungle Falls swimming pool provides cool relief in the daytime, and the Japanese tub will make evening star gazing an unforgettable experience.”

The spa at Maruba offers all-natural treatments derived from ancient techniques, and incorporating natural, sustainable products from the proprietary Maruba Therapy® line and the surrounding jungle environment. “We specialize in a number of mud treatments using our all-natural Mood Muds®,” says Franziska. The products in the Maruba Therapy ® line are also for sale, along with a variety of accessories and gift packages, so visitors can take a little bit of the jungle home with them. Naturally, they can order more online at Marubatherapy.com to keep themselves properly jungle-ized all year round.

But Maruba is not only about luxury and pampering in the middle of nowhere. It’s also a place for adventure, and there are a variety of things to do on the property, including horseback riding and Maruba’s special Medicinal Jungle Hike. Off-property tours are also offered, and there’s a little something for everyone, whether it’s exploration of Mayan ruins, a visit to a wildlife sanctuary, a sport fishing trip, a photographic safari, or a jungle riverboat tour or canoe ride. Those who are concerned about the well-being of the rainforest can rest easy, knowing that there’s a larger, earth-friendly agenda at Maruba as well. The proprietors are dedicated to preserving the ecosystem and promoting environmental awareness and appreciation.

Maruba offers several special honeymoon and adventure packages, as well as arrangements for day trips from cruise lines. The staff at Maruba is fluent in English, Spanish, and German. Major credit cards, travelers’ checks, and cash are accepted, and pick-up and drop-off from Belize International Airport is available.

Maruba Resort Jungle Spa has earned a lot of good press, having been featured in New York Magazine, Wellness Travel (in the Netherlands issue), and Maco Destination for the Caribbean and Central America issue. It has been mentioned in several travel books and guides, and is also becoming a popular set location for fashion shoots, commercials, and TV and film productions.

Good press is always welcome, but it’s the guests who are the real authorities, and they’re giving Maruba a thumbs-up as well. One described Maruba as, “More than one could ever expect. An experience of a lifetime with many a kindred spirit! Unparalleled service and hospitality.” Another wrote, “Our first impression of the grounds as we entered was an incredible oasis in the heart of the jungle. Talk about lush landscaping. Can’t wait to go back and see my new friends at Maruba.”

Yet another guest wrote, “This resort is a mix and match of tropical and rustic worlds. Interesting paths to follow to find your room, the hot tubs and various pavilions. The dining area is like that from a movie set: good food, fancy drinks and lovely table decor. One can even lunch in a high rise tree house loft! Probably the best novelty is the resting area near the pools with canopy beds. And I loved the hundreds of hibiscus flowers that are placed daily almost everywhere, even in the bathrooms.”

Those words are music to any spa proprietor’s ears, as is the remark from another guest who said, “You know you’ve found the right vacay spot when you call your room ‘home.’” For some, it’s a “home” they’ll want to return to again and again.

Korn reveals dubstep-inspired single

1327984638 79 Korn reveals dubstep inspired single

Korn may be best known for their popularity in certain metal circles, but with their 10th studio album The Path of Totality, they took a much different direction. The band, led by enigmatic frontman Jonathan Davis, collaborated with the likes of Skrillex and Excision to add some dubstep-infused sounds to the record, Noisecreep reports.

The shift in sound is evidenced on the latest single, "Sanctuary." For the track, the band teamed up with Downlink, who took to his DJ laptop to give the song a different feel. Davis said that working with Downlink was an eye-opening experience.

"He introduced us to a lot of ideas, equipment, items we don't normally work with. It was really cool," Davis told the website. "Our sound engineer, Jim Monti, learned a lot from recording with Downlink, and Downlink learned a lot from Jim, so it was a great experience."

Davis and Korn are not the only artists working with DJs on their latest album. Most recently, singer-songwriter Norah Jones teamed up with Danger Mouse for her next record Little Broken Hearts. He both produced, and contributed to, the album.

But the band scored much in 1986 with the release of Slippery When Wet. It was vamping to be sure but was met with great enthusiasm. It is so vital. The is electric with the full band and a massive screaming crowd so the atmosphere will definitely be living and intense. Kate Hudson’s Biological Father Emerges

1327707426 50 Kate Hudson’s Biological Father Emerges

Bill Hudson, the father who up until now has lived a life of privacy stepped out of the shadows to say that he’s hurt by his famous daughter calling Kurt Russell “dad”.

Kate Hudson had started calling Kurt Russell dad shortly after her mother actress Goldie Hawn began dating him in 1983. Now Bill Hudson tells RadarOnline his thoughts on something that happened nearly three decades ago.

“At first it was okay when everybody was getting along, but there were certain things I didn’t like. I didn’t like that Goldie wanted the kids to call Kurt ‘pa,’”

Hudson lements on, “It was very confusing to the kids, particularly Kate, and that was really painful.”

In a past interview with Vanity Fair Kate Hudson gave a little insight into what it was like with an absentee father and the relationship she has with Russell stating, Kurt is my dad. Kurt is a savior who came into my life. [Bill] was sort of in and out of our lives. I don’t hate him for it. I guess what I feel is frustration and curiosity — like, what was it about me he didn’t want to know?”

However even though Bill Hudson is thankful for Russell’s influence in his Kate and Oliver Hudson’s lives, he still has a different story of what happened. “Kurt has been there for her and I’m happy for that and I think it’s a good thing. Kurt’s a really good guy. What’s more hurtful is Kate saying publicly that I’ve abandoned her because that’s just not true,” Bill said.

“Even though it was hurtful, I was much happier with that from when Goldie and I first broke up. We split because she had an affair with Yves [Renier] who she met on the set of Private Benjamin and he’d be there with my kids and it was just sort of a thing and didn’t seem like it was something that would last, and I didn’t like that.”

So why is Bill talking all of a sudden? He released a book, of course! The book titled Two Versions: The Other Side of Fame and Family, documents  his past with Goldie, his relationship with Kate and Oliver, and what it was like to go through his personal family problems in a public light.

However, he claims the book isn’t a trashy tell-all. “The record needs to be set and it needs to come out. I wanted to show that it was a love story between me and Goldie, enough that we had children together, and it just went awry. And it was Oliver and Kate that suffered in the end.”

Only time will tell!

The set with a huge rock ?roll train, the fire works and visual effects are great. The companies who have these kinds of hidden charges generally camouflage the whole thing so that people do not go deep into it. Simply putting out a best concert is probably not the way to survive. I wandered round for a few hours and became more uncomfortable as a bloke took a fancy to me and started to harass me despite being told that I was with my boyfriend. I also had high hopes for one of the opening bands which shared a nickname of mine: Reaper. I'm a clueless newbie. I'm saying too much music to listen to is bad. Music streaming isn't for the sale hunter as long as I've had fantastic outcomes. You have to look for these kinds of concert reviews yet they have good references.

Santa Barbara’s State Street Ballet gets natural inspiration when preparing for ‘The Jungle Book’

1327576632 89 Santa Barbara’s State Street Ballet gets natural inspiration when preparing for The Jungle Book

But, of course, with “The Jungle Book,” there were also other influences.

“We all watched the Disney version,” Phillips said. “A lot of people read the book. It was a fun thing to get into.”

The ballet, which comes to San Luis Obispo for an afternoon show Sunday, was the brainchild of Rodney Gustafson, who founded the State Street Ballet. While many Americans remember the animated Disney movie from 1967, the ballet is based on the original “Jungle Book” — a series of stories written by British writer Rudyard Kipling in 1894.

While that means the ballet didn’t need any special permission from Disney, it also means they had to find other music. Luckily, a ballet company in the Czech Republic had done a “Jungle Book” show a decade earlier. And Czech composer Milan Svoboda had written a score that the State Street Ballet could use.

Of course, that means “The Bare Necessities of Life,” the most memorable tune from the movie, is not a feature of the ballet.

“There is no ‘Bare Necessities,’ ” said Phillips, who also acts as the ballet’s company manager. “But Baloo is definitely there.”

That’s Baloo, the laid-back, carefree bear, one of the principal animals in the story.

“The Jungle Book” follows a boy named Mowgli who loses his father on a jungle expedition and is saved from a tiger attack by a pack of wolves. As he is raised by the wolves, he also learns about the laws of the jungle from a black panther named Bagheera, and from Baloo. In the end, the boy questions his identity when he comes into contact with humans.

The State Street Ballet, which has also performed “Sleeping Beauty,” “Cinderella” and “Snow White,” wanted a show that would feature more male actors, Phillips said. This cast is actually half male.

The performance features elaborate costumes and set designs, along with a modern take on both the music and dance.

It’s also family-friendly — though not oversimplified, Phillips said.

“It’s a great time to bring your kids and introduce them to the ballet,” she said. “But it’s not ‘Barney.’ It’s not a kiddie show.”

Phillips, a veteran dancer in the ballet company, portrays Messua, a jungle girl.

“My partner, who plays Mowgli, is my childhood friend,” the Hawaii native said. “We grew up together. We’ve known each other since we were 8 years old.”

While she knows him very well, she doesn’t know any of the San Luis Obispo County actors invited to perform. While touring with “Jungle Book,” the ballet has invited local children to perform small parts on stage with them. For this performance, children from the Atascadero Fine Arts Academy and the San Luis Obispo Ballet Academy will comprise the Little Monkey Corps.

“It’s been a special experience for the families,” Phillips said. “And for the kids, they get to work alongside the professionals, and they get to dance in a beautiful theatre with us.”

Because of the relative close proximity, the ballet master has been able to come up to San Luis Obispo County to prepare the kids.

Usually, the local dancers have less face-to-face interaction before the show.

“When we do it in Missouri, we send them the video and say, ‘Good luck— we can’t wait to see you,’ ” Phillips said.

Dave Bakke: Rochester accident victim ‘did everything she could do’

1326533826 25 Dave Bakke: Rochester accident victim did everything she could do

The story in last weekend’s paper about the tragic accident that killed Emily Sue Denzer, 28, of Rochester not only touched people in central Illinois, it was picked up by news outlets across the country and undoubtedly moved many people.

The article reported that Emily was hit by a pickup truck while attempting to retrieve the family dog, Goldie, on Illinois 29 near Rochester. It was dark and rainy at the time, making visibility difficult for the driver, who was not at fault.

A Google search shows the story made news websites in San Francisco, Athens, Ga., Washington, D.C., Green Bay, Wis., St. Louis and on MSNBC, among others. How it happened, the fact that it was during the holidays and that Emily was trying to catch her dog all combined to make a sad story sadder.

Most people who saw the story don’t realize that Emily was killed, not only just after Christmas but only two weeks after celebrating her 28th birthday.

A Springfield woman who performs dog rescues contacted the newspaper with an offer to find Goldie for the family if the dog were still missing.

“This was such a sad story,” she wrote in an email, “that I feel really compelled to do something to help, if possible.”

Emily was a person with special needs. She had also undergone treatment for cancer about 10 years ago. That illness was what led her parents, Cindy and Gary, to give her Goldie.

“I got her in Wisconsin at some farmhouse on Dec. 14th eight years ago,” says Cindy. “My sister and I drove out there because Emily’s birthday was the 15th and she was going to be 20, and she had just gone through Hodgkin’s.”

The family already had a dog, but this one was just for Emily. Because of what she had been through medically, the family felt she deserved something special for her birthday. That was Goldie, and they had been together ever since.

The day of the accident, the Denzer house had been full of family all day for the holidays.

“We have a big family,” Cindy says. “That was the most important thing in her life, those people.”

With the house full, Goldie was exiled to the backyard. That’s why Emily and her cousin took the dog out to get some exercise just as the night and the rain were falling on Friday, the 30th. Her cousin cautioned Emily to watch for cars as they crossed the four lanes of Illinois 29 to get Goldie, who they could see on the other side of the highway.

They got the dog and started back across the highway. The cousin and Goldie made it safely, but, because of her disabilities, Emily could not move as fast and was lagging behind. She must have misjudged the distance between herself and the oncoming truck or just didn’t see it.

Emily overcame many hurdles in her short life. Her mom says she doesn’t want people to dwell on her daughter’s death. She wants them to know instead that Emily was always confident and happy and had a great attitude all of her life.

“She was just Emily,” says Cindy. “She did everything she could do, and she did it well.”

Taronga’s Gorilla Birth Provides Conservation Hope – ZooBorns

1326467832 24 Tarongas Gorilla Birth Provides Conservation Hope ZooBorns“Taronga is part of the European Species Management Program for these Gorillas. We’re also part of the They’re Calling You Program which encourages people to recycle mobile phones to contribute funds to Gorilla conservation and reduce demand for minerals used in the manufacture of some phones.” The youngster was sired by Taronga’s redoubtable Silverback, ‘Kibabu’. The majestic male, weighing over 200 kg is world-renowned for his outstanding leadership of the Zoo’s Gorilla group.

Primate Keeper, Lisa Ridley, said: “The group is very interested in the newborn. Like humans, much maternal behaviour is learned, so one of the great values of our well-balanced group is the opportunities young females have to watch experienced mothers like Kriba raising her baby.”

“Kriba’s six year old offspring, ‘Kimya’, sister to the newborn is especially interested and stays close to Mum and baby, watching their every move. This is an excellent life lesson for Kimya since in the future she will also play a role in the breeding program, and who better to learn from than your mother?”

“Young males also have a great chance to learn to be an excellent Silverback by watching how Kibabu makes sure the environment is safe and calm for the new arrival.  For male offspring, he is an excellent role model and not above playing with the youngsters when he thinks we’re not looking.  If he sees us watching, he quickly reverts to the serene, watchful Silverback mode.”

In the wild, Gorillas are threatened by habitat loss to illegal mining and logging as well as by forest clearance for farming.  They’re also victims of the cruel pet trade and the unsustainable Bushmeat industry.”

Lisa said: “The roads driven into dense forests where gorillas survive bring with them hunters and poachers. Alarmingly, gorilla and other bushmeat is turning up in Europe where people pay top dollar to eat these endangered animals.”

Taronga’s Gorilla group is changing and in 2013, it is expected Kibabu will be transferred to Orana Park in New Zealand to establish one of the region’s first bachelor groups, imitating what would occur in the wild. A new male, probably from Europe, will take over the group leadership at Taronga.
