The Brainerd Warriors dance team finished second in kick and third in jazz Saturday in the Central Lakes Conference championship meet at Sauk Rapids Rice High School.
“In kick, we felt really great about our performance and really thought we were going to take the win,” Warriors head coach Cindy Clough said. “Judges felt differently with Sartell the overall favorite.
“I really feel it is hard when Class 2A teams are judged with Class 3A teams. Tech and Brainerd are the only two 2A teams in the conference. The choreography is different in 2A and sometimes hard to be compared, in my estimation. Sartell had great kicks, as did we. Tech was outstanding as well.”
In jazz, Clough thought the Warriors had the best turn day of their season.
“We really landed our turns and were very happy about that,” she said. “Our girls have worked and worked to perfect their technique and we are so proud of the progress we have made.
“We did not have our best day in terms of (routines) being clean. We did not have mistakes but just a bit of offish timing. We felt, difficulty wise, our routine is much harder than Sartell’s. Again, very hard to compare the two classes. They really nailed theirs, however, I felt our turns were much stronger, though scores did not reflect that.”
Brainerd will compete in the section meet Saturday at Elk River.
“That is the meet where everything matters,” said Clough. “It all comes down to how we perform. We will continue to tweak and work on our routines. Our goals this week are to clean kick, work on tightness, timing and energy. We may modify a little choreography in kick, about three details that will help us look a cleaner.
“In jazz, we do have to make some significant changes, which we wish we did not have to. We feel like we have some parts where kids are traveling too far to get to spots and we will have to practice a bit harder this week than we would like to. We would like to be in more of a taper mode, where the kids rehearse but their minds can be on auto pilot.
“We have to do whatever it takes, however, so our week for jazz at least will be challenging. The girls are up for it, however, and have great attitudes. Our strength this year has been their work ethic.”

But when all was said and done, I discovered a great new venue, met the Devildriver guys, met some new media friends, met Mr.
I cant wait to see them for a 3rd time. That's the newest concert thing. However, many effective sites contain brief copy on the front page with more detailed information through additional links, which work to keep the attention of the General readers, giving more to those who want it. Shopping at a youtube music videos store carries a degree of protection. Never be afraid to ask for help. But if I want a CD of a live performance featuring great rock and roll from an older artist, I often get frustrated. The bassist and drummer left the band soon. They did their job of getting the crowd hyped very well.?The majority of the crowd seemed to be over the age of 25, so when Ludacris played his throwback songs from the early 2000's most people knew the words, and enjoyed the old music! Composed of the rappers Taboo and apl.de.ap as well as the front man, a multi instrumentalist Will.i.am and the gorgeous female vocalist Fergie, they were able to sell an astounding 56 million records of their third album Elephunk.
