But if you look for the most influential person and one of the inventors of rock & roll you will always find… Chuck Berry. His opening guitar riff on “Johnny B. Goode” is the most famous in rock & roll history and influenced many other musicians from The Who and The Beach Boys to AC/DC, those Angus Young even copied the “duckwalk” of Berry for his own stage performance. In June 2008, the Rolling Stone magazine put it on the first place of their list of the “100 Greatest Guitar Songs of All Time”. Nothing more to say …

Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival scores Kim Wilson, ‘Bluesrockers’

1329880631 34 Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival scores Kim Wilson, ‘Bluesrockers’

The 14th annual Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival, presented by the Gahanna Convention & Visitors Bureau, is trumpeting high-energy talent for three days of blues and jazz programming on five stages June 15-17.

The 2012 lineup includes Kim Wilson’s Blues All-Stars, featuring 2012 Blues Music Award nominee, singer/harmonica player Kim Wilson, and the 2010 American Smooth Jazz Awards “Best New Artist” jazz trumpeter, Cindy Bradley, performing with Columbus-based Urban Jazz Coalition.

Sean Carney and the Camp Blues Kids will kick off the festival from the Community Stage on Friday, June 15. Carney, winner of the 2007 International Blues Challenge and Albert King Award, has performed at the festival every year since its debut. The Camp Blues Kids (ages 11 and older) are mentored by Carney during Camp Blues, which is held during the week of the festival.

“Every year, it’s a fun challenge to select the blues roster for the festival,” said Bob Thomas, who’s on the festival planning committee and is a Columbus Blues Alliance member. “The Columbus area alone is home to many great musicians, and when we consider the national scene, too, I feel like a kid in a candy shop.”

Topping the blues bill on Friday, June 15, is the Jimi Vincent Band. Since forming in 1989, the band has performed three times at the International Blues Festival and has opened for such artists as Bonnie Raitt, Robert Lockwood Jr., John Lee Hooker, Kenny Neal and others. The band’s latest CD, “Been There, Done That É Won’t Do That Again,” is a mix of original music and classic blues.

Kim Wilson’s Blues All-Stars will perform Saturday, June 16. Wilson, who’s also lead singer and harmonica player for the Fabulous Thunderbirds, has put together the Blues All-Stars, a six-piece band that will showcase Wilson as a diverse blues virtuoso.

As one of the world’s top harmonica players, many have referred to Wilson as the “King of Chicago Blues harmonica.” On Sunday, June 17, singer/guitarist Ray Fuller and the Bluesrockers will headline the Blues Stage.

Fuller, a graduate of Gahanna Lincoln High School, learned from and played with such blues artists as Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker.

Highlighting the jazz scene will be the Tony Monaco Trio, who will take the stage Friday, June 15.

Monaco, a Hammond B-3 jazz organist, was something of a keyboard prodigy, starting on the accordion at age 8.

Festivalgoers should plan on grooving with New York City jazz trumpeter Cindy Bradley and Columbus’ jazz septet, the Urban Jazz Coalition, on Saturday, June 16.

From her NYC base, Bradley has performed internationally while releasing two CDs in the past three years.

In 2009, she released “Bloom,” a collaboration with Grammy-winning producer Michael Broening, and most recently “Unscripted,” a collection that showcases her stylistic diversity. On Sunday, June 17, the festival’s jazz theme will feature a variety of father-son and father-daughter performances, as a celebration of Father’s Day.

On Sunday, June 17, the Columbus Jazz Orchestra will take the stage as it features pianist Bobby Floyd, along with his daughter, Bobbi Floyd Townes, on vocals.

The orchestra also will invite the children of some of its musicians to perform. The members of the Columbus Youth Jazz Orchestra will join in the festivities when it turns the spotlight on some of the band members’ fathers.

Coming from the Pittsburgh jazz scene and performing as a father-son team, Tony Janflone Sr. and the Tony Janflone Jr. Quartet will celebrate the day as part of Gahanna’s jazzy salute to fathers.

Janflone Sr. is well-known in Pittsburgh for a variety of musical talents. In addition to being an accomplished guitarist, he encourages aspiring musicians through his years of experience as a top instructor of guitar.

Janflone’s star pupil is son Tony Janflone Jr., who has been playing since age 9. Janflone Jr. currently plays with his own group, the Tony Janflone Jr. Quartet.

“Since Sunday’s performances fall on Father’s Day, I feel that the festival should embrace the occasion,” said Louis Tsamous, musician-services coordinator for the Jazz Arts Group. “All of the jazz acts that day will feature either father-son or father-daughter combinations.”

Throughout the show, the lead singer jumped into the crowd a few times and joined the center of the club to play acoustically. Where can my qualified people attain incomparable concert directions? Getting Bette Midler concert tickets is no easy matter, but you can find tickets without lining up outside the booth an hour in advance... Part of the reason why the show has been such a success lies in the music which has been translated beautifully to a series of live concerts. Foghat to Reissue “Last Train Home”

When it comes to paying tribute to the blues greats, few classic rock acts have done as much as Foghat over the years. You know Foghat, kids! Cue the “Slow Ride” riff! Remember, though, their first hit single was a classic cover of Willie Dixon’s “I Just Want To Make Love To You,” and they organized a 1977 star-studded NYC concert that benefited the start of the Blues Archive at the New York Public Library. Foghat was the ‘house band’ backing their special guests including Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Johnny Winter, Paul Butterfield, Honeyboy Edwards, Eddie Kirkland and many others. The group continues to pay homage to blues masters, as evidenced by their latest release, 2010′s Last Train Home, which contains covers of several blues classics such as “So Many Roads, So Many Trains” and “Shake Your Money Maker,” and a few new originals. And now, LP collectors will get an opportunity to add this killer album to their collection, as it will be issued in a limited edition of 1,000 copies, as a blue vinyl/double album with gatefold sleeve. Last Train Home is the culmination of a dream shared by Roger Earl and Lonesome Dave Peverett, who passed away in 2000. The album will be issued on Feb. 7, which will mark the 12-year anniversary of his passing. Last Train Home sees Foghat’s line-up – Roger Earl (drums), Charlie Huhn (vocals/rhythm & lead guitar), and Bryan Bassett (lead & slide guitar) – joined by several special guests, including harmonica player Lefty Lefkowitz, Earl’s brother, Colin, on piano, and Eddie “Bluesman” Kirkland, who we sadly lost in a car accident last February.) Due to a prior commitment for the band’s bassist, Craig MacGregor, Jeff Howell, formerly of Foghat, Savoy Brown and the Outlaws filled in for the recording. One of classic rock’s most enduring acts will soon be revisiting the format that originally made them stars, with a beautifully assembled vinyl version of Last Train Home. Concert is not significant now. Personally, you should do it. I went with the GBA, but sometimes I wish I had an ocarina, no matter how annoying it would sometimes sound. The concert is worth it to go to but I would suggest sitting or standing at a ground level where it is easier to hear the group singing. How To Play Some Great Blues Guitar Licks?

1329759428 54 How To Play Some Great Blues Guitar Licks?

If you have been enamored by the guitar greats like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy King, Muddy Waters or Eric Clapton, you might have also harbored the dream of playing blues guitar one day. But many of us have also wondered how do we master those great blues guitar licks? Once you get a hang of the techniques involved, they might not be very difficult to perform. But learning the basics is one thing and attaining perfection is a completely different issue. You might take some time to play like a pro, but the journey itself is very enjoyable especially for a die hard fan of blues guitar.

If you want to play the blues guitar licks like a seasoned guitarist, you need to work on your basics first. A guitar lick will only sound good if you have a perfect command over the scale, the chords and the notes. You need to start with the easier versions before you move on to more challenging and complicated ones. There are instructional courses which have a good balance of easy and difficult ones, so that you can choose accordingly depending on the progress you have made.

You also need to master certain techniques for playing perfect guitar licks. You might have to perform a hammer on for a particular lick, or mute few notes. Certain licks might also require you to give it a tremolo effect. You need to know certain techniques like playing few chords in arpeggios. You also need to develop a basic rhythm sense.

There are many other requirements which will depend on the individual nature of the guitar lick. You will also need to learn the music sheets so that you can decode music accordingly. Many courses will offer you guitar tabs, which are far easier to follow. So, you need to check out whether the guitar tab archive is quite extensive. The collection can be quite envious and some times can include hundreds of songs.

So, playing your favorite guitar licks can become a reality, if you manage to find a good and a systematic course. You will have to put in a lot of efforts on your own. But a little hard work will eventually work wonders and in few years you can play as skillfully as a professional guitarist.

Pass the updated city noise ordinance

1329757032 45 Pass the updated city noise ordinance

Lexington made a smart move more than 50 years ago by steering growth away from its surrounding farmland and into an urban core. The city has recommitted in recent years by encouraging development of empty land and conversions of existing properties inside the urban services boundary.

Given what we know about sprawl and its costs, this approach is looking smarter than ever. But some conflicts are bound to arise between old and new neighbors and even among new neighbors, especially when businesses and industries abut residential areas.

Some of these conflicts will involve noise. Noise is more than an annoyance. It can make you sick and ruin property values. It’s a threat to quality of life and public health. It’s also an unavoidable consequence of human activity.

Sorting out the inevitable conflicts in a way that’s fair to all would be the work of Lexington’s first noise board, under a proposal from an Urban County Council task force.

The council launched the task force four years ago when weaknesses in the current law became gratingly obvious. Lexington’s noise ordinance dates to 1974 and would need updating even without the extra pressures from infill and redevelopment.

The task force held public hearings and studied noise ordinances from more than 100 cities. Vice Mayor Linda Gorton and council member Tom Blues co-chaired the effort.

Unfortunately, their work has met a stony reception from some council members and Lexington businesses that are overreacting.

A council committee defeated the draft ordinance Tuesday after it was loaded down with a poison-pill amendment. But this won’t — and should not — be the last we hear of a new noise law. Gorton and Blues and council member Chris Ford, whose central Lexington district is home to a dense mix of homes and businesses, should keep pushing and educating council members and concerned businesses.

Most of the misgivings should ease once opponents understand that forcing anyone to move or go out of business is clearly not the intent. The draft ordinance is emphatic about balancing the interests of those making the noise and those complaining about it. Variances could be granted depending on circumstances. There would be new limits on gratuitous noise at night, but noise necessary in the regular course of doing business would be protected.

Arguments used to discredit the ordinance are not convincing.

Councilman Doug Martin said it would be better for noise complaints to go to court rather than through a citizens board. But paying for lawyers is much more expensive and would be prohibitive for many.

One of the reasons the council commissioned a new noise law is that courts are not geared to deal with complaints that often boil down to one party’s word against another’s.

Railing against new bureaucracy is an old reliable. But some new bureaucracies can be extremely useful. In this case, the public would get an objective process for dealing with complaints about noise, something Lexington now lacks.

The noise board would be made up of eight citizens, including representatives of industry and local music venues and a professional in a noise-related field.

Open minds are required to grow a city with a quality of life that will attract people and investment. It’s time to listen with an open mind to the resoundingly solid reasons for updating Lexington’s noise law.

What:

Approaching the tail end of a record release tour debuting their first, full-length album, Lukas Nelson & Promise Of The Real will rock the Mateel Community Center in Redway, on Wednesday, February 1st. Trailing enthusiastic reviews from coast to coast, with Nelson’s blistering blues rock guitar, soulful vocals and powerhouse band, the result is a ripping live performance.

Promise of the Real is a testament to the group’s rich talent and musical versatility. Blessed by the genes and example of his famous father, Willie Nelson, in both his voice and off-stage humility, Lukas also names the music of Jimi Hendrix, B.B. King, Neil Young, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Bob Dylan as major influences. Notably, Lukas, himself, has performed with Young and Dylan at benefit concerts, and, with the band, has toured twice with BB King, performed a set on the televised 2009 Farm Aid, and in 2011, performed their stand-out song, Four Letter Word, on David Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel.  Before he gets too big for the building, don’t miss this chance to catch Lukas Nelson & he Promise Of The Real in the intimate setting of the Mateel Community Center

Aloha Radio, an up-and-coming California surf rock band featuring lead singer, Lauren Mulderrig, will open the show. Doors open at 7pm with Aloha Radio at 8:00.  Admission is at the door only and is priced at $18 for MCC members and $20 general.  Beer and wine will be available and the kitchen sales for this event will benefit Kiwanis of the Redwoods. His hit song, "un vino una cerveza," caught my attention because not only was that the only song title of the whole night I could understand, it was incredibly popular at the time and capped off the night by setting off an already frenzied crowd . She is a Filipina singer who rose to popularity when a fan uploaded her video on YouTube. Hearing this former singer for The Police, and veteran of many films, Sting offers a piercing voice that is unforgettable. In early career artists more desirable to the ticket. My partner Mike Napolitano co-produced this record - my guitar and voice have never sounded better, and that's because of him. In 2002, Rock music's most celebrated musicians gathered to pay tribute to one of their own, the legendary . I had never seen a set of fingers move so fast in my life, and it was all done while creating intense riffs and solos. I'm not for nor against concert in this scenario. For some, the blues season ends in September.

Nick David is working to change that.

For the third year, David, leader of the blues band Mr. Nick & The Dirty Tricks, is bringing the New England Winter Blues Festival to the Blue Ocean Music Hall in Salisbury. Four bands will perform on Saturday, Feb. 11, beginning at 8 p.m.

“All four bands are very different,” David said. “It’s probably our most eclectic collection of bands.”

Typically, blues fans can attend festivals only during the summer, “because the weather dictates it,” David said. Indoor festivals are uncommon.

“There’s a lot of really loyal festival-goers,” he added. “People that love blues, and love to get out and go.”

So, a few years ago, he approached Blue Ocean with his idea. Then he set to work lining up bands and organizing the evening. Since then, it’s taken off.

While the majority of attendees come from the North Shore area, blues fans can be found around the state, David said.

“There’s a really good blues fan base in Boston,” he said. “They are fun-loving people who enjoy music a lot.”

The lineup this year includes The Get Backs, Mr. Nick & The Dirty Tricks, The Lydia Warren Band and The Ten Foot Pole Cats.

The Ten Foot Pole Cats offers an “interesting and different” style, David said. “They do a kind of Mississippi-style blues, but with a bit of punk.”

The three-piece band includes Jay Scheffler on vocals/harp, Jim Chilson on guitar and Chad Rousseau on drums. They are currently working on their second album. In 2010, they released their first CD, “I Get Blamed for Everything I Do.”

Lydia Warren tours internationally and has appeared with B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Johnny and Edgar Winter, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Rick Derringer, Buckwheat Zydeco, Ruthie Foster, and Ronnie Earl, to name a few. Warren has played at the Boston Blues Festival, North Atlantic Blues Festival, Montreal’s FestiBlues and many others.

She is “a great singer and outstanding guitar player,” David said. “She has a really powerful voice.

“They’ve got a lot of really cool original stuff,” he said.

Mr. Nick & The Dirty Tricks will perform its entire new album, “Oh Wow!” A year in the making, the album was released last week. The four-piece band will be joined by special guests, as well.

The band includes “Lonely” Gus Carlson, Teddy Bukowski and Rick Rousseau, in addition to David. They play “a mix of original rhumbas, jump blues and boogies.”

Headlining the festival will be The Get Backs, a newer blues band that consists of some old favorites.

“They are some of the best players in Boston,” David said.

The band formed last fall, guitarist Matthew Stubbs said. In addition to Stubbs, it includes Chris Bryant on guitar, Scotty Shetler on saxophone, Johnny “Bluehorn” Moriconi on trumpet, Marc Hickox on bass, Chris Rivelli on drums and vocalist Templeton.

“We love blues, soul and all roots music for the soulfulness and authenticity of expression,” Stubbs said. “Most of us have played with different bands.”

This is the band’s first appearance at the festival.

“We were proud to be offered the headlining spot with our recent collaboration,” Stubbs said. “It’s always fun to hear and socialize with other bands.”

The region has a loyal blues following, Stubbs said.

“It has been strong for years,” he said. “There are a lot of great bands and venues. The audiences love to dance and hear good musicianship.”

Kathy Aiello, director of marketing for Blue Ocean Music Hall, said the venue is creating a larger dance floor for the festival this year, due to popular demand.

Each band will play for at least 45 minutes, Aiello said.

“It’s just a really fun night,” she said.

What: New England Winter Blues Festival

When: Saturday, Feb. 11, 8 p.m.

Where: Blue Ocean Music Hall, 4 Oceanfront North, Salisbury

Tickets: $22.50. Call 978-462-5888, go online at BlueOceanHall.com or visit the box office, open Tuesday through Sunday at 4 Oceanfront North, Salisbury.

To the left, the reception hall is large with high wooden ceilings, elaborately carved and painted. Furthermore, Jiles implied that despite Bujus current predicament, it will strengthen the established singjay as well as the Reggae genre going forward. These two methods of payments are just the most common forms but you'll see a bunch of them as you go along. That has had a substantial impact. Listening to lead singer John Cason a person is lead to believe his voice eerily sounds like Bruce Dickinson. A shuttle service was accessible through the event site, and it was a great value at $56 round trip from Anaheim, but there were some issues. Many people are allergic to perfumes and colognes. John had resumed performing in his original band, 'Exiled'. Retention of traditional Kiwi culture and a bid for unbridled urban planning gives the city a unique stamp in a country that as a whole is orderly and clear-cut. Although, "Every man has his price." This is not personal. Concert is headed from being an uncommon product to museum curiosity whenever I'm going to change the topic completely at this time. My children have had some better answers recently. "San Jacinto," "Biko" and "Sledgehammer" will forever be burned into my brain. The idol of many music lovers, AR Rahman musical spell was magically brilliant as he performed on ai Ho!?and ausam Instrumental??songs from the Oscar winning movie Slumdog Millionaire. However, I highly recommend that you further take a look at Mutiny.

MoFo Party Band marks 23 years with Starline show

1329266233 85 MoFo Party Band marks 23 years with Starline show

It’s not like MoFo Party Band needed another reason to party, but Saturday they’re celebrating a little bit extra.

The veteran Fresno blues band — one of our city’s most beloved local bands, in general — plays Starline to mark its anniversary, and to unveil a new CD, “Live at the Tower Theatre.”

MoFo, headed by brothers John and Bill Clifton, is still going strong after 23 years. This year the band is eyeing yet another European tour. Last year, MoFo backed up Big Bill Morganfield (the son of the great Muddy Waters) on a small tour and acted as his backing band on a new CD that was recorded right here in Fresno. The album is due to be released this spring.

Also on the bill for Saturday night’s show is Black Market III, a blues band from San Diego that the MoFo boys have played with overseas.

Another much-loved local artist gives Starline a one-two music punch this weekend.

That’s guitarist Trey Tosh and his band, who headline the club Friday with Electric Grease opening. Show starts at 9 p.m. Cover is $10.

Tosh recently found success with vintage-sounding rock band Shiver Fox, but that disbanded and he’s back to fronting his own band again.

Celebrate the music of Patsy Cline on Saturday at the Hanford Fox Theatre, 326 N. Irwin St.

Joni Morris, a Stockton-based singer, and her band play the hits of Cline.

Tickets cost $20. Showtime is 8 p.m.

Details: (559) 584-7423

Santa Cruz rock band The Stellar Corpses — which calls its style “morbidly fun” — lands in Fresno on Wednesday to celebrate its new CD, “Dead Stars Drive-In.”

The show was originally scheduled for all-ages venue The Bel-Tower, but it was recently shut down because of permit issues.

The show, meanwhile, has jumped to another all-ages venue, Cafe Infoshop, 935 F St. It starts at 6 p.m.

Salinas punk band The Sea Wolves joins The Stellar Corpses on the road. Also playing are local bands Midnight Howlers, Checkered Past, Still Stoked, The Deadbeats and Restaurant.

Young voices at Lamp Post

Saturday night’s show at downtown bar/gallery The Lamp Post, 607 Divisadero St., features a couple of young local singer/songwriters worth a look.

Gabriel Ramirez and El Joe of the Valley are both promising voices. Catch them at 9 p.m. Cover is $4.

The reporter can be reached at mosegueda @fresnobee.com or (559) 441-6479. Read his blog at fresnobeehive.com.

You will be turned off by my passionate remarks respecting concert. The song was also nominated for the Golden Planet for Extremely most beneficial Original Song - Motion Photograph as well as the Academy Award for Best Authentic Song. That was a piece of pie. It's how to get a professional free internet music at home however, you can't please everyone. Contrary to popular belief, he who dies with the most concert does not win. Take the time to check these things and dont be blinded by the thought of your concert tickets and favorite artistes.
